Stephanie Sy, co-founder and Attorney at Sy and Smith, has years of experience in Immigration Law. Previously, she was a Partner at USA Immigration Legal Group, LLP, where she handled a variety of legal matters, including family-, employment- and investment-based petitions. She has written legal articles for several publications.
From a very early age, Stephanie knew she wanted to work with families. One of her differentiators is her understanding of the immigrant experience, because she experienced it firsthand as a young child entering the U.S. from the Philippines with a limited knowledge of the English language and American culture. Stephanie comprehends and appreciates the importance of every case and the impact it will have on her clients and their future generations.
Stephanie earned a BS in Business Administration with a focus on business economics, cum laude, from the University of Arizona. She entered law school at California Western School of Law knowing she wanted to help families achieve the American dream and graduated in 2006 with her Juris Doctor.
During law school, Stephanie clerked for the Honorable Kenneth Lee, Superior Court of Arizona, Pima County. She also interned at Garvey Schubert Barer in Beijing, China. Her first position after law school was at The Law Offices of Stephen Ure, PC, where she practiced immigration and family law, and handled Proposition 65 litigation.
Stephanie is a member of the California State Bar, a former co-chair of the San Diego County Bar’s Immigration Section, and a member of the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA). She has also been named to Cambridge Who’s Who for Executive Women. Stephanie is fluent in Tagalog and conversant in Fujian Chinese (Hokkien) and Mandarin Chinese.
