Jeff Larson has been practicing immigration law exclusively since 1994 in the areas of family, asylum, deportation and removal, naturalization, adoption, consular processing, and employment-based visas.

Clients. J.P. Larson Law Office has represented clients from numerous countries around the world, including several individuals and families from Tibet, China, Nepal, India, Liberia, Ghana, Cameroon, Mexico, El Salvador, Britain, Canada, Germany, and Italy.

Education. Jeff earned his J.D. degree from William Mitchell College of Law at St. Paul, Minnesota in 1989. He attended the Detroit School of Law London Law Programme in fall, 1987, studying international law and human rights. Jeff continued his formal legal education in 1992, earning an LL.M. Degree in Transnational Litigation and Business Practice from McGeorge School of Law and interned at the Rotterdam, Netherlands office of Loeff Claeys Verboeke, practicing in the area of international business and litigation.

Experience. Primarily focused on family-based immigration issues, Jeff has assisted families and individuals to obtain both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas at U.S. consulates and embassies abroad or change of nonimmigrant status or adjustment of status within the United States and has assisted clients in obtaining waivers for grounds of inadmissibility. He has also provided assistance to individuals for adoptions, especially adoptions of child-relatives by family members, providing consultation and advice to foreign legal counsel to ensure expeditious and successful consular processing.

Jeff has successfully litigated a number of cases involving deportation and removal, with relief often based upon asylum or cancellation of removal either before the immigration judge or the Board of Immigration Appeals.

Immigration-related activities. Jeff has volunteered at Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights, Asylum Program for over ten years. He has represented individuals filing either affirmative or defensive asylum applications, providing both direct client service or as a supervising attorney to other attorneys participating in the program.

Jeff has been active in the Tibetan community in Minnesota, having served on the Board of Drectors as a Director and Chairman of theBoard for the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota. He has traveled extneisvely throughout wetsern Eurpoe, India and Nepal,  visiting the Tibetan refugee communities and the Tibetan Government in Exile at Dharamsala, India, and has traveled to several southeast asian countries.  Jeff is a past  Director on the Board of the Italian Cultural Center of St. Paul & Minneapolis.
